What Can a Table Teach Us About Akiba’s World? (first meeting)
Dates: Tuesdays, January 8, 15, 22, 29
Time: 7:00 - 8:30 pm
Instructor: Earl Schwartz
Location: St. Paul JCC
"Tables" stand at the center of this series, physically and figuratively, as we explore social, cultural and political aspects of first and second century Galilee and Judea. As we observe the tables around which Jews of those times and places gathered, we also reflect on the tables we know best, to better understand how universal human activities such as sharing a meal might sometimes prove a window on someone else’s life, sometimes a mirror on our own.
Cost: $90, $75 for Hineni supporters (those who make a donation of $118 or more to Hineni annually) and JCC members
